On the road again

I know it has been a while since I last posted, but when I just checked to see when it actually was, I couldn’t believe it has been over three weeks. I have a good reason, though. We have been very busy. We have been in and out of town several times, all for my husband’s work. We spent a week in the Cities, then part of a week near Sioux Falls. Both very tiring trips where we asked a lot out of Baby C. He was completely thrown off of his schedule, but did so well. Well, he did get pretty fussy at the end of both legs of the 7 hour car ride (which obviously took longer with stops and feedings) to Sioux Falls, but can you blame him? I’m be miserable, too, if I were stuck in a car seat for the majority of the day. Hopefully, I will get back into blogging a little more regularly but no promises. I will leave you with some pictures from the past few weeks. Baby C is growing and developing like crazy. Every day it’s something new. I’m loving it!

These are pictures taken with my camera. I’ve taken so many more, but with my phone which isn’t the best idea considering the quality isn’t as good. I need to work on that! However, I’m sure I’d take a whole bunch more if I had a fancy-schmancy camera…

A Southerner’s Nightmare

Where I live, we don’t have a Chick-Fil-A. In fact, the closest one is 2.5-3 hours away and in the University of Minnesota. Convenient? I think not. So, I kid about it being a nightmare, but every Southerner, and not-so-Southerner for that matter, understands how detrimental this is.

To pay tribute to Chick-Fil-A, here are a couple of clips from comedian Tim Hawkins. Enjoy!

Once upon a time

Once upon a time, my husband and I took vacations.

When we got married, my aunt gave us the best advice – take vacations every year before you have kids. We took that advice to heart and for the first 5 years of our marriage we vacationed every summer, mostly to Seagrove Beach, Florida but also on a Southern Caribbean cruise and to Hawaii to celebrate big events. They were wonderful and looking back we are so thankful we did.

A year ago today, we were boarding a plane, actually several, to Hawaii to celebrate my graduation from grad school and our 5th wedding anniversary (we also knew that would be our last vacation just the two of us for a while ;) ). I’m not telling you this to brag or to make you jealous. I’m just wanting to remember that phase in our life. So, in memory of that trip and because I never did anything with the pictures I took, I wanted to post some of my favorites.

Views from our balcony

Nothing says Hawaii like a Mai Tai!

Various sights on the road to Hana

Dolphins swam with our boat
Gorgeous sunsets every night

Ahh, this is the life!

Instead of a vacation this year, we had a baby! I’ll leave you with a couple of photos of Baby C from Labor Day!

GAMEDAY

One of the things I have come to realize living in the Northland is that Northlanders just don’t get college football like Southerners, no offense. They get NFL in ways that Southerners don’t, though. But in the South, football is like a religion. It is king. It’s what you do on Saturdays in the fall, there’s no question about it. It consumes your WHOLE day, and that’s how it is suppose to be. You start looking forward to the next season as soon as the national championship is over. You wait in eager expectation for that first game. And, now the wait is over!

These Southerners are ready for college football season! Around here, we bleed (and drool in Baby C’s case) red and black. Go Dawgs (the University of Georgia, who else?!?)! Sic ‘em! Woof woof woof!
